Mike Colombo was born in Lumberton, North Carolina, on September 2, 1948. He served as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1975, rising to the rank of Captain. He and his wife Brenda have two children, Allen and Wendy, and four grandchildren.
